Moomintroll, Snufkin, Little My and family are back with more adventures, as series two of Sky Original Production MOOMINVALLEY launches on December 21st on Sky One, Sky Kids and NOW TV. Rosamund Pike , Matt Berry and Taron Egerton return as Moominmamma, Moominpappa and Moomintroll, with new guest stars for this series including Julian Barratt ( The Mighty Boosh, Mindhorn, Nathan Barley ), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje ( Oz, Suicide Squad, Thor: The Dark World ), Miriam-Teak Lee ( Hamilton, & Juliet ) and Shalom Brune-Franklin ( The State, Bad Mothers, Our Girl ). Based on the original Moomin stories and artwork of Tove Jansson, MOOMINVALLEY is full of life, laughter and adventure, with visual humour, witty dialogue and plenty of energy and drama. Series two will introduce several new characters greatly loved by Moomin fans. Lucy Murphy, head of kids content, Sky, said: “Following on from our successful launch of season one of Moominvalley we’re delighted to bring more Moomin magic to Sky One and Sky Kids this Christmas. With new characters, magical adventures and challenges for Moomintroll, the new episodes are perfect for Moomin fans of all ages.” Marika Makaroff, creative director and executive producer, Gutsy Animations, said: “With the first series of Moominvalley, our ambition was to realise a fresh, contemporary retelling of Tove Jansson’s beautiful and adventure-filled Moomin stories, and to introduce audiences to Moomintroll and his magical world. The second series is our invitation to explore this world further. It broadens the focus from Moomintroll to the whole Moomin family – viewers will meet new characters, take on new challenges and come on exciting new journeys with our hero and his friends.” MOOMINVALLEY is directed by Academy Award® winner Steve Box (Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit) and produced by Gutsy Animations exclusively for Sky in the UK and Ireland. MOOMINVALLEY has the full support of Moomin Characters, the business set up by Moomin creator Tove Jansson and her brother Lars in the 1950s, and Bulls Licensing, their global licensing agent. It is being developed in association with the Drama department of Yle, the Finnish public broadcaster. MOOMINVALLEY series two launches on Sky One and NOW TV on December 21st.
