MOOMINVALLEY WINS BEST ANIMATION AND BEST STORYTELLING MAGNOLIA AWARDS AT SHANGHAI TV FESTIVAL

HELSINKI/BRISTOL, 23rd June 2023. Internationally acclaimed Moominvalley TV series has yet again achieved international success. This time, the third season of the animated series has been awarded at the famous Shanghai TV Festival, where it won the Magnolia Awards for Best Animation and Best Storytelling. There were a total of ten finalists in the same category, and Moominvalley was up against Kungfu Panda Dragon Knight (DreamWorks Animation Television, USA), The Seeds and the Smoos (Magic Light Pictures, UK) and White Cat Legend 2 (Nice Boat Animation, China) to name a few.

Earlier this year, Moominvalley was nominated at the world-famous Annie Awards, in the Best TV/Media Children's Program category. Additionally, the series has recently been nominated in the Palm Springs Animation Film Festival competition in the Best Short Animation and Best LGBTQ categories, as well as in the Finnish Venla Gala, competing for Best Children's Program.


The voice actors for the English version of Moominvalley include, Rosamund Pike (Moominmamma), Matt Berry (Moominpappa), Jack Rowan (Moomin) and Bel Powley (Little Moomin), among others.



The Moominvalley TV series based on Tove Jansson's stories has already been seen around the world in 60+ countries and consists of three seasons and a total of 39 episodes. The first production season of Moomin Valley was completed in 2019. The second season was released in 2020 and the third in 2022.


The fourth season is currently being made and it culminates in an exciting way when the beautiful Moominvalley faces its biggest threat yet. Inspired by the most famous story from the original Moomin books, a comet is speeding toward Moominvalley, and no one knows what to do. Only the kindness, acceptance and unique sense of humor of the beloved Moomins can save the day.

Moomin Characters Oy Ltd is the official copyright holder of all the Moomin characters. All characters from Moominvalley are trademark registered worldwide. The Moomins are central characters in a series of books and comic strips written by Finnish-Swedish writer and artist Tove Jansson between 1945 and 1980. They are one of Finland’s biggest exports and have a global fan base.


The company was founded in the 1950s by Tove Jansson (1914-2001) and her brother Lars Jansson to manage the Moomin copyright and is still run by family members. Rights and Brands is the worldwide licensing agent of the company.
